We’ve put together a handy guide for you to learn a bit more about the methods involved in creating a Chester Mox Wallet.

Buffing – Also known as “correcting,” it involves sanding the grain to improve and remove surface imperfections.

Burnishing – A process utilizing heat and friction to polish and shine the edges of a leather piece. Too much burnishing can deplete the moisture from the leather.

Chromexcel – Horween Leather’s proprietary leather developed over one hundred years ago. Chromexcel undergoes at least 89 separate processes taking 28 working days to finish. Every wallet is made from Chromexcel leather. To learn even more click here.

Horsehide – Horsehide is a very strong, very dense leather, originally specified by the U.S. military for use in aviation jackets during WWII before scarcity made it too expensive. Once broken in horsehide acquires a softness similar to steerhide and takes on a rich depth of character that cannot be duplicated as it ages.
